Lead on Purpose: Show Up with Intention in Business and Life
Leadership doesn’t always require grand strategy or massive change. Sometimes, the most powerful shifts come from simple moments of intentionality. This month’s reflections are all about leading with purpose, even in the small stuff. Because when you do that consistently, momentum follows.
Your cold plunge is calling!
What’s your cold plunge in business?
Let me clarify: I’ve been cold plunging for a couple of years now. I never want to do it, but I never regret it once I do.
The same thing happens in business.
We delay tough conversations. We avoid the strategic planning session. We push back decisions because “now’s not the right time.” But 100% of the time, when it’s done, we’re glad we did it.
So I’ll ask again: What’s your business’ “cold plunge”? What have you been putting off lately, and how good would it feel to get it done?

A career I love (and a calendar that works)
I love what I do.
A couple years ago, I made a shift in my career, to focus full-time on facilitation and leadership team coaching. Part of the motivator behind that change involved controlling my own calendar for the most important people I know: my family.
Last week, I had the rare opportunity to carve out dedicated 1:1 time with each of my boys. No agenda from me. They got to pick what we did. For one, it was X-Golf and baseball. For the other, shopping for hunting gear and grabbing a good lunch.
Simple moments, but deeply meaningful.
To have a career I love, that fuels me and gives me the flexibility to be present with my family…there’s nothing better than that.
Haunted by what-ifs?
Ever heard the ghost story of the decision that never got made? 👻
It started with good intentions: “Let’s circle back,” “Let’s talk next week,” “Let’s give it some more time.”
But then… nothing. No resolution. No movement. Just silence. And that unmade decision? It stuck around, quietly haunting your team’s momentum, clarity, and focus.
Turns out, indecision can cost more than the wrong decision.
This fall, skip the horror story. What decision in your business is lingering in the shadows, and what would it take to finally call it forward? 👻
Who owns what? (Hint: it shouldn’t be a mystery!)
Does everyone on your leadership team know what they own?
It’s a simple question, but it’s often where accountability starts to unravel. Titles aren’t the same as roles. And no one can hit a target they didn’t know they were aiming for.
That’s why we start with structure. Clear roles. 5 major responsibilities. No more than that.
What would change if everyone on your team had crystal-clear ownership as we head into the end of the year?
